Hearts Desires

Your
Hearts Desires
What
is it in life that you desire? Because your time is your life and life
is your time. We are only allowed a limited number of days to live and
no one really knows how many days those are, or what will truly happen
in any given day. you can plan them, but do they always go as planned?
What
is it? What's that thing that when its all said and done,
you can look back on and actually say to yourself with contentment, "That was what I
wanted, I accomplished what I set out to do, this brought or brings
me great fulfillment and joy. My life was not wasted, I now have no
regrets or righted the wrongs and have peace and contentment about
life". "This inspired me and so this is what I did. I am happy
about what I was able to do in my life".
I 100%
believe that God gives us our hearts desires. Whether you think
that HE inserts the desires, our life's dreams & goals, that He
gives
us our talents and abilities and puts into our hearts that make us who
we are as individuals. Those things that make us feel alive when we are
doing them. The inner compulsions that make us
want to do a thing or if you believe that He will provide to give you the means to
accomplish what you have purposed in your heart to accomplish in life. Either
way, I believe it's both.
I have been thinking about this lots lately and since He says in
His Word that when we delight ourselves in Him, he will give us our
hearts desires, I believe that it means that he will help us accomplish
the goals that we have set in our heart. I do subscribe to believe that
God does give us all our desires and talents/abilities. No way were
intelligent enough to go from wooden wheeled wagons/chariots from before
Christ's lifetime until early 1900's and then all of the sudden have
what we have now in 2007 with all this extreme advanced technology. All
this progress in less than 100 years time? Sorry, but God was the one
that allowed us to figure it out and achieve these goals that were set
in the hearts of men and women. The only evolution that makes sense is
our thoughts evolving. No proof of physical evolution but that's for
another blog, argument and time. Think about it, this was an EXPLOSION
of knowledge from the year 1900 to present day. Why did it take so
long? God has His plans.
God
gives us our hearts desires if we DELIGHT ourselves in HIM. He says this
in Psalm 37 that He will even bring it to pass, meaning to fulfill your
dreams, if you trust in Him and commit your plans to Him. So He is
saying basically to think up the plans, and THEN commit them to Him so
they can prosper.
Even
if you don't believe in God or the bible, if you have ever read Psalms
and Proverbs, no one can deny there is wisdom that surpasses all of
man's and if you lived by this wisdom, you would have a better, more
enjoyed, fulfilled, less dangerous, more prosperous and abundant life.
Our
lives are so short. the only time I can remember when TIME itself seemed
slow was when I was very young child. When mom would make us wait 15
minutes for whatever she said we could do but needed her to help. Those
15 minutes seemed to have taken forever to come about. Now, 15 minutes might
as well be the same as 15 seconds at this moment in my life.
That is unless you're in a car accident or a similar fast moving
traumatic experience. Then seconds seem to take a long time to occur. It
is kinda weird, the perception of time that is.
Dreams
as well seem like they are much longer while you are dreaming them and
even when you wake up to remember it and go to write it down, the
longest dreams are quickly placed on paper and normally don't take more
than a page, page and a half to complete. At least if you are even able
to remember the whole dream.
Time
is a strange thing. We are not people of time, we are people of
eternity. Every single thing we do affects our eternal life. Some might
think that when we die, that's it, nothing else. Even so, if you somehow
actually believe that in your heart, (I don't believe that anyone truly
does believe this even if they say they do), your time is flying by
faster than a weavers shuttle.
Sometimes
while were in a bad situation in life, time seems to take longer to
occur while were waiting on the good thing or waiting in
expectation of an exciting thing to happen that we know will happen. I
suppose it if you think about it, and you are in a very bad situation in
life and have no hope, maybe your time goes by a little slower due to
the fact that you have no hope? I dunno, for most of my life I have been
in troublous times and waiting for a good thing to happen and still, my
life went by fast during the times when I felt hopeless about a thing.
I'm just thinking out loud here.
One example
(not a perilous one), is the last hour before getting off work for
the day or for the week to enjoy what little time that you have
for yourself or to spend with someone you love. I literally hate my job,
it brings me no joy at all. The only thing that makes me feel good about
my job is when I do a good job at it and know that who ever is
depending on me is satisfied with my production, the activity that I was
given to do by my boss. That's the only joy I can recollect
from my job. But even in the time I'm there, it flies by so
fast that its the end of the day before I realize it. Lunch time passes
by so fast I hardly have time to swallow my food and I get an hour.
How
about a good radio program or a good movie? You get wrapped up in
listening/watching it and its over before you know it.
What
am I getting at here? Make your life count! So at the end of it, or even
now, you wont be thinking that it was a total waste of time,
energy, a continual string of hellish dramatic events made by decisions
that resulted in detriment and defeat.
If
you put your all into whatever you're doing, you will be satisfied in
your own heart with knowing that at least you tried. Whether you failed
or succeeded, you know you gave it your best and there is nothing else
you could have done to make it better as far you know. That's a
satisfying feeling. I'm sure there are things in your life where this
has happened. Something, there must be at least one time where you gave
it your all. Think about it. Even if you failed, how did you feel? Maybe
a little bummed or discouraged that it didn't turn out the way you
expected or wanted, but at least you tried. NOT trying is truly
failing and leaves you (at least me) with such a void and
discontentment that it creates confusion and major depression. I've
learned all this the hard way.
If
you're lazy on purpose about a goal that no one but you wants to
accomplish, then you will hate yourself for it. And if you hate
yourself, how could you possibly love others and sustain a fulfilled
life?
If
you were a craftsman in wood working and built a chair that you really
just didn't care how it was built but it held up to others sitting in
it, how would you really feel about that chair? you'd probably not care
at all. but if you built a chair and put all your effort in it and
shaped the wood to seat someone with comfort and built it strong with
braces and design and NO ONE liked it, how would you feel about that
chair? You wouldn't care if everyone else hated it, you did your best
and you love the chair. Personally I am not good at building things with
my hands from scratch, my dad is, he can do anything. He built a 2
story, 8 car, storage barn, literally larger than my parents home by
HIMSELF. Yes it passed inspection by the county in all aspects. The only
thing that he didn't do by himself is the very top part of the roof. My
sister and brother in law placed the very top metal tiles on so my dad
would not harm himself. But dad put up all the trusses BY HIMSELF and
secured them and then put on the rest of the metal roofing for the lower
floor winged roof. He's amazing at everything. He's a master mechanic on
any vehicle, new or old and can build anything from scratch; I don't
know what he can't do. He has completely restored his 32 Ford sedan 4
times from the ground up, his 56 Convertible Chevy Bel-Air 3 times from
the ground up. My 66 Mustang two times (before i sold it like an idiot).
Paint job and all. He can do anything and he just amazes me. I wish i
had HALF of what he had in his heart to accomplish his purposes and a
1/4 of the ability to achieve. He's only 63 years old. Lived through the
first tour of Viet Nam and came out alive by God's grace and mercy and
many prayers. Many of his friends died 3 feet away from him in the 1st
Cavalry. He has seen the worst of life and the best of life and finally
retires this year in a couple months from a 24 year county job where he
made his way to the top. I DESIRE for him that he will have time and
money to accomplish the rest of his goals.
The
bible says in Proverbs 22 (oh here we go again with that bible
yappin') - "A good name is rather to be chosen than great
riches, and loving favour rather than silver and gold". And
again in Ecclesiastes 7 - "A good name is better than
precious ointment; and the day of death than the day of one's birth".
If you agree with the Bible or not, I think that most would agree that
those statements are true. If you lived your life in such a way,
wouldn't you have more peace in your heart about life? I know I would.
Live
your life with purpose. If you allow others to dictate your life for you
or you just float on down the stream and take it as it comes, how will
you feel about your life when it's over? How do you feel about it now?
Are you reaching your goals? Do you have any goals? or have you allowed
life to push them down so far that you forgot what they really are.
What
is it that will bring true meaning to YOUR LIFE?
Then
what are you going to do about it?
Continually
living in misery is not God's plan for your life. He wants us to be
happy, fulfilled, & secure in life.
We
don't know how much time we have on earth.
Hebrews 9:27 Says "And
as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the
judgment.
So we DO have an appointed time of death just as we have an appointed
time of birth.
Ecclesiastes
5:15
- As he came forth of his mother's womb, naked shall he return to go as
he came, and shall take nothing of his labour, which he may carry away
in his hand.
Jeremiah
1:5
- Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou came
forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet
unto the nations.
Isaiah
24:44
- Thus saith the LORD, thy redeemer, and he that formed thee from the
womb, I am the LORD that makes all things; that stretched forth the
heavens alone; that spreads abroad the earth by myself;
So
remember this the most while planning and proceeding with your life's
plans.
Since we are people of eternity and CANNOT take anything physical with
us from this planet to the next life, how has this knowledge changed
your thinking about your goals in this life?
Everything
in this life that is physical can be corrupted, rust, fall apart,
destroyed, stolen, vandalized, broken, lost, taken away, etc. You get
the point. Spiritual things, treasures up in heaven cannot be touched.
They are there waiting for you when you arrive.
God
says in Matthew 6:20 - But lay up for yourselves treasures in
heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do
not break through nor steal:
And
as a good preacher has said, "I don't think we need to worry about
the accountant in heaven making any mistakes". This also applies to
our behavior and the words we speak and the sins we commit. But Glory be
to God that He has given us a GIFT, that only cost us a decision of
faith, a way out of being held accountable to the sins we commit. Jesus
Christ is the sacrifice, once and for all, for all peoples, for all
time. But we must accept and believe that the gift exists. We will be
held accountable, so what will you say to God on judgment day when He
asks of you why He should allow you into is Holy, Pure Presence and
palace or heaven?
It
is a gift because the bible says that our best/greatest works with the
best of intentions are still as filthy rags to a Holy, Righteous God and
if we have committed one sin in our entire life, then we've broken all
the commandments. Jesus' death, punishment (in place of ours) and
resurrection IS THE ONLY way to salvation. He says so. He loves us
enough to want to be with us that God allowed His ONLY child to be the
offering for all of our sins. We cannot really truly understand this, I
cant. But I believe it because it is historical fact for one thing and
what other way would there be? None. We cannot work our way to heaven;
He says so. For if our salvation were of works then a mere person could
brag about it. And we really have nothing to brag about considering
what/who were up against (GOD, who is wise enough to create the entire
everything, give us pure free will, not making us robots, allowing us to
choose his way or death). We could not do enough good in our lives to
outweigh the bad that we've committed against a Holy, Pure God. So,
accept his gift if you haven't already and begin living now.
So
what do you really want to look back on in life and be satisfied with?
Ok,
Begin.
